driving

locally, there are just too many stop signs to deal with,
because of security & safety
too many things to be mindful about

which makes it harder to concentrate,
to get in a rhythm & follow an idea or an emotion
or an affair, for that matter, all the way through

there are just too many punctuation marks
for a word like serendipitous to sneak up on you
and surprise you with a winning hand, for a change

there are just not enough grammatical blunders,
not enough run-on sentences to get away
with what you need to get away with

in order to get into her levi’s
& houston: MAYDAY MAYDAY, EJECT EJECT.
too many repercussions whenever dylan’s highway 61

isn’t an alternative, whenever your speed
will give you away to authorities & somebody else.
there is just not enough open country
