leftovers

                          (for my lady)

if you want, we can save the rest of the words
for later,
for a late snack
after the kids have gone to sleep
(when we can take some clothes off)
or for brunch
with some sun & wine & some background music,
it's your call

we can even doggy bag them, refrigerate them,
save them for tomorrow, lunch,
which can be just as good
since you're always stressing
that i'd spend less on me
& more on you (sorry, more on us)

there's also the option of letting other couples
have a crack at them
(since you refuse to throw
perfectly sharpened recyclable words away,
since one of our hobbies
entails saving, one plastic bottle at a time, the planet):
we can donate them or make a family activity
out of it: have a yard sale

see if silence (time in its purer state) does the trick,
or our body language
in the worst case scenario

it's your call
